Earl has four years experience teaching various grades at the elementary school level and is currently teaching 7th grade at a middle school in the Flathead Valley. Earl is a lifelong learner who is passionate about effective pedagogical methods that skip past rote memorization and gets to the roots of learning. He can help your learner achieve their immediate academic goals and equip them to continue problem solving and exploring in years to come. Earl has experience in both Washington and Montana state public schools and spends countless hours incorporating classical, project based, and unconventional educational practices into his mainstream classrooms. Earl is excited by the unique learning opportunities available to homeschool families and is enthusiastic about partnering with families in identifying and implementing the best educational practices, goals, and curriculum. During his time as an elementary school teacher Earl had the opportunity to work in specialized programs teaching 2nd-7th grade level math to diverse audiences of learners.

When Earl isn’t actively teaching you’ll likely find him reading classic literature or a book on classical education, finding the next educational class to attend, or indulging his own love of learning through one of his interests such as studying ancient Greek or playing chess. Earl is a Flathead Valley native who has just returned to the Valley with his family after 10 years living in Washington state. Earl and his family love the outdoors and close-knit community and are excited to be living in Bigfork. In addition to teaching Earl loves being a dad to two young children and is excited to be entering the first years of homeschooling. Some of his family’s favorite activities include running, hiking, reading aloud, camping, and backpacking.
